Neighbors Emergency Center Proud to Co-Sponsor Fight Against Hunger Meal-Packing Community Service Event September 10
PEARLAND, Texas, September 12, 2016 – Neighbors Health, the parent company of Neighbors Emergency Center, was honored to co-sponsor the Pearland Dream Dinners “Fight Against Hunger” community service meal-packing event on Saturday, September 10 from 9-11 a.m. at New Hope Church located at 3640 County Road 58 in Manvel.
Approximately 200 Neighbors volunteers, along with an additional 400 volunteers with Friends and Family Community Connection and Dream Dinners, assembled 78,000 non-perishable food packages at the fun and fast-paced event for families in Pearland as well as in Haiti. The meal packages combine rice, soy protein, dried vegetables and a vitamin pack.
Pallets full of the packaged meals were delivered Saturday afternoon to the Pearland Neighborhood Center and Christian Helping Hands as well as The Bridge in Pasadena. This community service is a direct link with Neighbors’ company values of care and compassion with nurturing and welcoming employees that value working together.
“I’m so inspired after watching our community come together to assemble 78,000 meals to feed those less fortunate,” said Mandy Nichols, a physician recruiter for Neighbors Health and the company’s organizer for the meal packing event. “It’s indescribable working for an organization that empowers us to give back like Neighbors Health does.”
