“We at Neighbors are proud to support events like the Gator Ride because we are passionate about taking part in building a better, stronger community as well as promoting healthy habits among families,” said Myra Graves, Director of Operations.

In order to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Gator Ride, 1984 Olympic medalists Mark Gorski and Nelson Vails joined this year’s participants in their ride. There was also an opportunity to purchase a commemorative 25th Anniversary Gator Ride jersey prior to and during the event.

A new tradition began this year with the introduction of the Family 5K event, in which families were invited to ride, run, or walk as a team. Afterwards, participants were encouraged to stay and enjoy other family-friendly activities such as Cannondale Bike Demos, raffles, moonwalks, face painting, and a meet-and-greet with the Chick-fil-A Cow.

“Any event that brings families together for a good cause is an event Neighbors Emergency Center is proud to sponsor…the participating families and riders had a great time, and so did we,” said John Decker, CFO.

The Gator Ride has been a Baytown tradition for the past 24 years and the proceeds of this event go towards providing scholarships for child care, summer camps, swim lessons, sport leagues, teen programs, and more. Close to 1,200 cyclists and 300 volunteers show up every year to support this event and the Baytown community. The Gator Ride is also an official MS 150 training ride and offers the options of rides 33, 43, 51, and 62 miles long for all participants.
