Neighbors Emergency Center West Warwick to Assist Local Girl Scouts Earning First Aid Badge
HOUSTON, Texas, December 19, 2016 – Eager to share the captivating components of ER care and learn more about a freestanding emergency center, Neighbors Emergency Center West Warwick sponsored a Teddy Bear ER especially for East Greenwich Girl Scout Cadette Troop 855 on Sunday, December 18 from 1 – 2:30PM. The troop and their leaders visited Neighbors for the interactive lesson by Neighbors’ Medical Director Dr. Shannon Collemer and Marketing Liaison Felicia Lesnett. Neighbors Emergency Center West Warwick is located at 325 Quaker Ln., 02893. The center’s phone number 401-822-9950.
To help the Girl Scouts earn their First Aid badge, the troop learned about the need and value of emergency room medicine, what types of injuries or illnesses constitute an ER visit, basic first aid observations and skills, and learned more about the roles of doctors, nurses, radiology and medical technicians, and administrative staff at the center.
Each Girl Scout received their own Neighbors teddy bear “patient” to register and wristband with a sticker and the girls were instructed on and practiced basic first aid skills. At the lesson’s conclusion, each Girl Scout took home their Neighbors Emergency Center teddy bear “patient”.
This positive action is a direct link with Neighbors’ core values of having a genuine, compassionate heart; a creative spark; and a collaborative act delivered with a friendly smile.
