HOUSTON, Texas, October 2, 2017 – The news is filled with worst case scenarios, and Susan English’s story could have ended that same way. But thankfully English’s tale has a much happier ending.
It was Mother’s Day and English had not been feeling well. After experiencing chest pains at home, English’s daughter drove her to Neighbors Emergency Center Texarkana. Just as she entered Neighbors, English collapsed. Dr. Jason Yost, the Neighbors physician on duty, and his staff immediately sprang into action and were able to resuscitate her.
“Neighbors ER saved my life,” said English. “I can’t thank them enough. My daughter brought me here because she didn’t think I would make it.”
English will get the opportunity to thank the doctor that saved her at the National Night Out gathering on Tuesday, October 3 from 5:30 – 8 P.M. at Crossview Baptist Church. The church is located at 3268 North FM 2148, 75503.
“She came in on Mother’s Day and that thought kept going through my mind,” Yost said. “It felt great knowing that we saved her, let alone on Mother’s Day. It’s rewarding to see patients after we’ve cared for them. We have a great team here at Neighbors that are dedicated to our patients when they need us.”
English and her daughter will join the C-5 Volunteer Fire Department when they welcome the community at the National Night Out event. Dr. Yost will also be on hand to celebrate with the community and check on this very special patient.
“We take our commitment to helping people very seriously,” Yost continued. “As a result of that fateful day, Mrs. English’s family is now part of the Neighbors family. We earned their trust and we’ve been honored to treat many of her family members since that time.”
