Here comes the sun, happy child standing outside in the sunshine with large sunglasses on

Oh, the sun! We love it and we hate it. Filled with vitamin D with the power to burn us to a crisp, the sun is the ultimate “frenemy.” Did you know that overexposure to the sun not only causes burns and skin damage but can also cause damage to your eyes and your immune system? Too much sun can even result in fever, swelling, headaches, and nausea. Read all about the sun and how to keep you and your family safe this summer in our Sun Safety blog!

Let's go for a swim! - Pink sprinkled donut pool float floating in the swimming pool

Who doesn’t love a pool day! Whether it’s in your backyard, at a resort, or the neighborhood pool we all love taking a dip in that cool refreshing water. Days spent swimming and relaxing by the pool are some of the best days summer has to offer, but what happens when things don’t go as planned? As fun as they are, pools can be dangerous. Drownings account for around 10 deaths per day just in the United States. Most of these occur at a private residence during peak summer months. Don’t jump out of the water just yet though, you know that Neighbors has your back. Take a look at our blog all about Drowning Prevention and learn all you need to know about pool safety.

Don't forget to drink your water - man sitting on track with bottle of water

Texas is HOT, and we mean HOT HOT. In the South, especially in states like Texas, it is crucial to stay hydrated. Our bodies are around 60% water, so clearly, we need that awesome H2O to survive. We’re constantly losing water throughout the day, even in our sleep, and we can start feeling the effects of that within hours. Water is important, so it’s just as important to recognize the symptoms of dehydration as well as learn ways to stay hydrated.
